The flight to Beijing was uneventful - except for a small delay before take-off (which we spent merrily sucking down the complementary Bloody Mary's). However we only had a two-hour layover in Beijing before our flight to Shanghai for the first leg of our trip. We knew we'd be cutting it close, what with gathering our luggage and moving through customs. What we didn't bargain for was our connecting flight being in a different terminal - a terminal that was a 25-minute bus ride away! Needless to say that between the delay, the bus ride and our wandering clueless through the airport while we got our bearings, we did not make our connecting flight.
So we got to spend a few extra hours in the airport. I was anxious to get my vacation started, though. So I took several thoughtful pictures in the airport, including a series of intriguing photos of a vending machine.
